Beginner Instruction

Introduction to Firearms Classes are available in Handgun, Rifle and Shotgun.

Classes are only available during the week and on weekends starting at 4:30pm.
  The class typically runs 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Purpose: This format will be to introduce new/novice shooters to the various common firearm designs through hands-on classroom and live fire training.  It will provide a basic working knowledge of safety requirements, basic handling characteristics and basic maintenance requirements along with ammunition design/performance and a heavy dose of correct fundamentals of safe firearm handling.  

Firearms potentially available for the course:  22LR/9mm/38spl/40S&W/45ACP semi-auto and revolver pistols, 223 Rem/308 Win/7.62x39 semi-auto/bolt action rifles along with 12 gauge pump action shotgun.  

All ammo used through Cedar Ridge Range guns must be brass cased with a copper jacketed bullet.  Ammunition may be purchased at the range, check out the merchandise tab for prices.     

Fee: $140/student.  Discounts are available for groups larger than four people.  Cash Only for all transactions.

Cedar Ridge Range will provide all firearms, suppressors, targets and other equipment required for the course.  Students may bring any personally owned firearms and the appropriate ammunition if they wish to use those in class.

Minors (16 years old and less) will be accepted only when a parent is also enrolled and that parent has made a positive assessment that their minor has the physical, mental and maturity levels capable of grasping class materials and instruction.  Parents will be totally responsible for minors conduct and their childs assessment. 

Instructor reserves the right to limit or refuse access by any student to any portion of class/instruction/firearms that they deem to cause a safety or disruptive issue.

Students should bring their own hearing and eye protection if possible but these items can be loaned or purchased at students option.  Many students like to take notes for future reference and study, so paper and pen should also be considered.  Casual, comfortable clothing is recommended but avoid wearing jewelry and very loose clothing or open shoe styles.
